Ranger - Environment and Science

Description : Ranger. Company : Environment and Science. Location : South West QLD+5 locations

This position is based in Toowoomba and is part of the broader Technical Support team working a Monday to Friday roster. While it has a Pest Management focus, it is not an on-park, or operational ranger role. Travel within the region will be required to undertake field work in remote environments and variable climates. It is advisable that the successful applicant has a degree of physical fitness that will enable them to do this.

Accommodation will be varied, from motels, to park barracks, to camping in isolated areas with limited options for personal communication.Your roleThe Ranger, OO5 is a role in which you will: - Supervise a work group to perform tasks and deliver project outcomes.- Contribute as a member of a team to the preparation of annual work programs for recreational and infrastructure maintenance and development including the acquisition and allocation of resources within budgets.- Plan and deliver specific projects including the development and maintenance of park infrastructure and initiatives, plant operation and maintenance, natural and cultural resource management, fire management, weed and pest control.- Compile and maintain reports and records, participate in human resource and budget management processes and the procurement goods and services. This includes use of computer systems and applications.- Perform customer contact duties including answering enquiries, providing education and advice, and conducting park patrols.- Perform compliance and enforcement tasks on suspected breaches of relevant acts and permit conditions. Assist senior staff and staff from other agencies with investigations as required.- Maintain productive relationships with stakeholders including neighbouring landholders, other government departments and local Indigenous communities.- Plan and co-ordinate emergency response procedures including natural disaster contingency plans, wildfire response procedures, search and rescue procedures, and medical emergency procedures.- Operate and maintain a variety of departmental plant and equipment.- Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peopleThis work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
